      From: Jiao Shou
Department of the SPECIAL CLASS GIFTED for YOUTHS
      University of Science and Technology
      Hefei, Anhui 230026, P.R. China
      July 1, 1998
      Dear Sir or Madam:
I take great pleasure in recommending Ren Ren, one of my favorite students, for admission into your distinguished graduate program.
Mr. Ren was admitted in 1986 at 14 years of age into the SPECIAL CLASS for the GIFTED YOUTHS, my university s unique program that caters to the intellectual needs of unusually talented Chinese youngsters. It was a rare privilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through the years of his elementary and secondary school.
He impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle of china s scientific and technological talents. At the time, members of the Gifted Class all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles of calculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-study capability. Mr. Ren scored the highest grade in that exam. He also exhibited a keenly whetted mind during class discussions. To my regret at the time, his English was not as good as his mathematics or physics. But I noticed he made a point of working especially hard in improving his English during his five undergraduate years with us. By now, he seems to be at least as proficient in English as most of his former classmates in the Gifted Class.
In my experience with Mr. Ren, I was impressed with not only his extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence. I am sure that Mr. Ren will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program that he may care to enroll in. So I would like to support him firmly in his quest recommendation into account when considering his application. I would greatly appreciate it you decide to accept him as he wishes.

        Dear Admissions Committee,
It is my pleasure to recommend Mr. Xiao Xiao for your MSC program in International Business. As Vice-General Manager of Hong Kong ABC Holdings and Mr. Xiao’s immediate supervisor, I have known Xiao since 2000 when he joined our company, which focuses on real estate development, international trade, and global business affairs. After beginning as a market researcher in ABC’s market development department, Xiao was promoted to assistant to the Vice-General Manager. Working so closely with Pan, I have seen firsthand his conscientious and diligent work habits, as well as his focused ambition. Xiao has made significant contributions to numerous company projects and initiatives, making him one of our most valued employees.
In June of 2001, I sent Xiao to CCC, a city in China’s CCC province, to take charge of one of ABC’s largest and most important projects, the "CCC Square Project." Because of a lack of experience in selecting a suitable location and poor marketing management, the company had to delay its sales launch. To ameliorate this major dilemma, Xiao employed meticulous organization and a creative approach, collecting all relevant information from local government agencies. He then assessed the project’s viability by considering its cultural and entertainment value, ability to host sporting events, and quality of general facilities. After much detailed analysis, Xiao developed a an action-oriented plan, as well as a precise, itemized report. His analysis helped corporate executives assess the profit potential of the project under revised circumstances and led to a successful sales launch.

Mr. Xiao is a very bright individual and quick learner, teaching himself the principles of international trade and marking, as well as absorbing general business strategies from his senior colleagues across several departments. Xiao excelled so quickly upon first arriving at ABC that he was placed on several challenging international business projects, including a consulting project examining the oil trade for a company in Australia. He volunteered for projects with courage, performed his analyses with diligence, and completed his reports with a unique and engaging style. Since I have known him, I have been able to count on Xiao to complete any assignment I give him in an unparalleled fashion, far surpassing my requirements and expectations.
Pan’s success can also be attributed to his effective interpersonal skills. Confident about himself and optimistic for the future, Xiao has always represented ABC impeccably to both our clients and competitors. Because he can easily win the trust and support of his audience, including people who know little about him, Xiao is usually a key speaker during our frequent business meetings. Every person who has ever worked with Xiao thinks of him with fond memories, making him one of the most popular employees around the office. Such warm and welcome personal qualities will serve as important assets as Xiao excels in his future professional career.
Right before Xiao informed me that he was planning to pursue graduate studies abroad, I intended to promote him to a higher position within the company. Though I regret that I will lose such a valued employee and friend, I believe Xiao needs graduate study to achieve his professional ambitions. Xiao will utilize the practical experiences he has accumulated over the past two years as he engages in sophisticated theoretical discussions with fellow global business professionals in graduate school. By listening to and sharing perspectives with his fellow students, Xiao will gain the ability to make quick, yet well-informed management decisions. By utilizing your school as an educational institution and reservoir of established, professional and personal successes, Xiao will improve his ability to challenge his professional goals, while building lasting friendships.

                      Dear Sir or Madam:
As an associate professor of Shanghai University of Sport, I am writing the recommendation letter with great sincerity to furnish you with my knowledge of my student Yang Xiao in support of his admission to your honorable program. Should this letter be of any assistance of your processing of his application, I will be much delighted.
He is now studying at our university, and I taught him the courses of Modern Management Methods and Human Resource Development and Management in his third academic year. Now, I am tutoring his graduation thesis. Both in the two courses and the writing of the thesis, he exhibits diligent and industrious research spirit. In class, with agile thinking, he positively devoted himself to the lectures and treated every specialized training carefully and earnestly. In the finals, he obtained excellent scores. In writing the thesis, he displays positive attitude, asks me for advices modestly, and puts forward various originative opinions.
During studies at university, he is enthusiastic for every specialized course. Adopting a diligent and surefooted attitude and striving for excellence, he answers questions actively in class and brings forward his own ideas, cultivating his own ways of study. With strong abilities in perception and creation, he is especially good at analyzing, thinking and solving difficult problems. He completes each specialized exercise excellently, and in particular, he gave his novel ideas on the essay concerning The Impact of Large-scale Sports Competitions on Cities. His advantages were displayed in the two courses I delivered, and he gained good records and praises of professors in other courses. With strong abilities in writing, reading and communicating, he pays great attention to the improvement of his comprehensive qualities and energetically takes part in social practices.
I fully support his idea of overseas studies, which will certainly facilitate his further development. He has detailed plans and accumulated certain social experience for your program. Australia is world-renowned for high academic level and favorable learning environment.
                      Respectfully yours,
                      Chen Xiyao
