Obviously, the thing I'm supposed to write about this week is the acquisition of Land Rover and Jaguar by the Tata Tea Company of India.

I've been away for a couple of weeks already, so I've been lucky enough to miss what I imagine is a lot of hand-wringing and despair about t

final and complete destruction of our once-proud motoring heritage and the consequent ruin of England.

But, to be honest, I've decided Tata is a good thing for Land Rover and Jaguar. It's not as if anyone else was entirely sure what to do with

them, and if nothing else the colour schemes will improve.
