Q: What's it like to work with Meryl Streep?
I don’t know if there are even words to express it. She was someone who I admired for pretty much my entire life, Jeff Bridges as well. These are two actors that made me want to be an actor. Not to be obsequious or slip into hyperbole but they are both incredible and having a chance to work with Meryl was really a unique opportunity. To see what was on the page and what she was bringing to the table and the small subtleties and expressions was incredible. I would watch her lines even when I wasn’t in the scene because I wanted to see it.

Q: What is the atmosphere like on a film set?
For “The Giver,” it was incredibly laid back and fun -- not at all as intense as what the movie can be. It was a very musical atmosphere and everyone played something or sang. I played guitar and ukulele and we all had some jam sessions! It was really great. It was definitely just this creative, collaborative atmosphere where people were all just trying to bring something. Jeff Bridges used the term “jamming” but that really is what it was, even when you’re acting you’re just trying to play jazz with the other actors and improvise your own bits in the greater framework.
