Delta Goodrem reveals she was devastated and ’absolutely broken’ by haters who trolled her every move on The Voice
POP star Delta Goodrem says she was “devastated and absolutely broken” by haters who trolled her every move on The Voice.
Goodrem, 29, who will judge on The Voice Kids later this year, said she is still affected by negative comments fired her way last season.
“No matter what I did, people had their own thoughts about me already and perhaps they weren’t accustomed to me having opinions,” she tells In Style Magazine.
“At the time I was devastated, absolutely broken. I never wanted to be controversial. I’m in this for the music.”
Meanwhile, Goodrem turned up the heat in her latest fashion shoot by wearing a revealing swimsuit.
Goodrem, who is based in LA, is plotting a “killer year” as she focuses on a new album and a less-demanding role as a television talent judge.
Indeed, her upcoming spot on The Voice Kids reminds Goodrem of the first time she was star struck.
“I was seven, and I had this beautiful moment meeting Olivia Newton-John in New York. My mum and I were having a hot chocolate after seeing Phantom of the Opera. I said to Mum, ‘There’s Sandy!’
“Olivia heard my Australian accent and came over. She was lovely and … it has stuck with me my entire life.”
Goodrem said her new songs will show a new, rejuvenated side.
“The songs are a little more upbeat, grittier and feistier than before,” she said. “I’m feeling freer than I’ve ever felt. I have no limit to what I’m doing and I’m letting people see my fun side.”
The sexy singer-songwriter is also single.
“I can’t imagine being in a relationship right now,” she said. “I’m feeling very empowered — I don’t need anyone else.”
