杰森•伯恩（Jason Bourne），原名：大卫•韦伯（David Webb）
1970年9月13日出生于密苏里州的尼克斯，被中央情报局招募前为美军上尉。
志愿加入中情局，被选为“Treadstone行动”的第一人。

We didn’t pick you. You picked us. You volunteered. … … You came in here. You didn’t even blink, Jason.
不是我们选择你，而你选择了我们。… …你是自愿的。你来到这。眼睛都没眨，杰森。

“Treadstone行动”，中情局需要的是为达目的不择手段的完美的杀人机器。
为了让他们唯命是从，首先要给一切赋予一个神圣崇高的目的：
Your missions will save American lives.
你的任务是拯救美国人的生命。



然后，必须要对他们需要的杀手进行行为修正（Behavior modification），目的是摧毁他们的自由意志：
They had to break down the agents before they became operational.
必须先让特工瓦解，然后他们才能负责行动。

When we are finished with you, you will no longer be David Webb.
我们改造完你，你就不再是大卫•韦伯。

改造的目的是用各种手段摧毁他们的自由意志并抹掉他们过去的记忆：
